  9. Crowbar

Steps For How To Install A Steel Door Frame

these are the steps in how to install a steel door frame consist of the following

1. Locate and examine the door opening
2. Removing the existing molding
3. Insert the jamb clips into the frame's sides.
4. Selecting the frame for the opening 
5. Preparing and installing drywall

step 1:Locate And Examine The Rough Opening

When starting this step you need to examine the current position door frame. check the following things

1. The floor conditions, since it may affect the mounting

2. The door frames width and height

3. Strike type,hinge size,and closure mounting.

when calculating the frame width, use your measuring tape to check the width starting from the exterior side of the side jambs. Of this measurement, you'll add half 0.5 inches more.

for frame height, you should add to your measurement 1 by 4 inches. also make sure that the floor is level. In case it isn't, we suggest you add 0.5 inches or more to the header. That way, you'll have space for you to level the frame properly.

step 2: Remove Existing Molding

In case you are replacing an existing door frame, you'll need to remove it using the crowbar carefully. pull the upper molding of the existing door. and again repeat this step on the bottom and middle parts of the molding you can only stop after removing all the frames.

for removing hinges, use your screwdriver at last drill out the metal frame, including jambs and sills

step 3: Insert Jamb Clips Into The Steel Frames Sides

After setting up the door frames opening you can proceed with the steel jamb clips. you need four jamb clips. when you place these clips. you will be needed to do the back of the steel frames sides

for the bottom of the clips, place them 4 inches from the lower half of the frame. for the upper half of the frame. please put the clips 6 inches beneath the door header. Lastly, place the clips that are left at an equal distance between the lower and upper clips.

step 4: Set The Frame Into The Opening

Now it's time to place the frame to the rough opening. When you are doing this remember to use your hammer to bend the anchor ties.set center each side of the frame and level the door top jamb horizontally.

drill onto the hinge side of the hollow metal door frame anchors, using two screws for each clip. also, make sure that this step needs to be done directly opposing the strike side.

Step 5: Prepare And Install Drywall

last but not least, you need to make sure that your frame is all set up before covering the wall. crosscheck everything you placed correctly, and check that the frame is level and straight.
